Features
The system's hardware
components are:
|
ATS 2 linear state (axis) positioning system from AEROTECH
INC, USA UNIDEX 500 2 PC motor
controller from AEROTECH INC, USA
IMASCAN Precision color frame grabber from IMAGRAPH INC, USA
486/Pentium computer (optional)
MII or Hamamatsu infrared camera (optional)
CCD or digital color
camera (optional)
|

The positioning system moves the camera and the
illumination source (optional) under computer control along the horizontal and the
vertical axes having a span of 1000 mm along each axis.
Software
EIKONA for Arts/Capture software moves the camera
horizontally and vertically in manual mode (complete operator control of motion, grabbing
and storage), automatic and semi-automatic mode. During the preparation of the
acquisition, the software can be used to calculate the ration mm/pixel. If the operator
defines the painting size, the desired digital image overlap characteristics as well as
the desired number of digital images along the horizontal and vertical axes, the software
can find all other motion characteristics and operate automatically. Row prime, column
prime as well as other types of scanning can be chosen. At each camera position, images
are grabbed and stored in disk in compressed or uncompressed format (JPEG, TGA). PAL/NTSC
camera outputs are supported. Adjustable time frame averaging is supported to reduce
acquisition noise in infrared imaging. In the Remote Camera mode, the software performs
only positioning control, thus allowing frame grabbing from another computer (e.g. an
Apple Macintosh connected to a high resolution digital camera). After image acquisition,
the EIKONA for Arts software can be
used for final image mosaicing (assembly), thus producing a high quality and high
resolution digital image. Digital images can be stored by using the EIKONA for Arts/Database painting
archiving software.
