Overview
Dentists and doctors use subtractive radiography to monitor the healing or extension of a tissue lesion and, thus, assess its condition. To this end, they have to use specialized software to process the digital radiographs. Such radiographs can be obtained by digital radiography equipment or by scanning conventional film radiographs. EIKONA SUBTRACTION RADIOGRAPHY is an image processing application which registers (matches) and subtracts two digital radiographs of the same object (e.g. tooth) taken at different time instances. Thus, the doctor can easily observe and highlight the areas he is interested in that appear to have differences due to the healing or extension of a lesion. Thus, a doctor can use the EIKONA SUBTRACTION RADIOGRAPHY for performing subtractive radiographic studies and evaluate the progress of the treatment of a lesion.
EIKONA Subtraction Radiography performs the following tasks:
It uses characteristic feature points chosen by the user on each radiograph.
It refines the points that the user gives on each pair of images.
It computes the radiograph registration parameters in order to match the two radiographs geometrically.
It subtracts the two radiographs, thus highlighting the radiograph differences.
It applies pseudocolor in a user defined range of pixel intensities, so that the differences are more visible.
EIKONA Subtraction Radiography supports many file formats, like BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG, TIF, TGA.
