Overview
EIKONA3D for Windows is an integrated, powerful and flexible software package for 3D image
processing, analysis and visualization. Major application areas include 3D microscopy,
confocal microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, magnetic resonance imaging, computed
tomography. It is based on an extensive library of routines related with the suitable
manipulation of the specifically designed data structures and the multitude of the
supported 3D processing, analysis and visualization algorithms.
Specifically designed for medical applications such as:
- 3D/Confocal Microscopy
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- Computed Tomography
Appropriate for volume data operations such as:
- 3D geometric transformations
- 3D region segmentation
- 3D edge detection
- shape & volumetric analysis
- 3D surface & volume rendering
EIKONA3D
Modules are application extensions of EIKONA3D and they help
to extend the usability and the operations that can be performed
by EIKONA3D. This flexible architecture of EIKONA3D to load external
modules, together with EIKONA3D library API makes it easy for a
third party software developer to extend the capabilities of the
software. These modules are implemented as Dynamic Link Libraries
(DLLs). Our company offers the following modules:
3D image I/O
DICOM module
3D Visualization
Volume visualization module
Surface rendering module
3D Image processing/analysis
Automatic alignment module
Marching cubes module
3D Surface modeling module
3D skeletonization module
ICP algorithm module
Tooth drilling for dental purposes module
EIKONA3D Library can be used as
a stand-alone Application Program Interface (API) for the
development of custom 3D processing applications for Windows
platforms using the C programming language. Though, the
whole EIKONA3D package provides in addition a suitable friendly
and easy-to-use Graphical User Interface (GUI) that gives
easy access to all library routines through a suitable menu structure.
In addition, it guides the user to the selection of the suitable
input/output parameters for each routine through carefully designed
dialog boxes and it displays suitable error/result notification
messages. EIKONA3D GUI was developed for the Microsoft Windows 95
environment and, thus, it has the look and feel of a usual Windows
95 program.
We must emphasize the very strong connection between the
eikona2D and eikona3D software packages. The user can interchange between the two packages
by using the 2D or 3D radio buttons. Finally, the Video menu bar contains video processing
and analysis operations. Furthrmore, it includes an MPEG-2 decoder and encoder.
